Mikko - the nature boy of the band
##
Mikko is a great person. He is always positive and he is always bringing positive attitude in all situations on touring and in every other situation. I would say that Mikko is a member of the band even if not he is not an official member. In the promo...
We still are in a way a cello band and because we don't know what's gonna happen in the future, Mikko is like a half member of the band. It's not deciding if you are a member of the band or not. He is involved musically at the moment and in most of the ways he's involved like a band member. He is a very cool guy and a great musician and he is an interesting artist. He has wonderful musical ideas and I think he should get a little more space.
##
At least he has used to play all different kinds of music and I think that's why he is a drummer who fits to Apocalyptica so well. He is not a metal drummer but he can play all the metal stuff as well. He is more like a rock drummer with the very wide range of style that he can handle. He has a lot of fresh ideas.
##
And also for the new album I gave demos of the songs and I think as a songwriter it should be there. But then Mikko worked with the drums and put in his creativity. So it was Mikko who did actually the drumpart for the new album.
##
I use to go to the drums and play there. I always like to go to play with Mikko.
##
Mikko is a good balancer. He brings a good mood into the band. In my opinion he has a good musical taste. He's a cool performer and our fans call him Mr. Cool because he is always cool.
##
But Mikko, i have now known him for a couple of years. About Mikko it's more easy to say. He is very responsible, very reliable, he is very positive, he is always in a good mood and he is extremely talented.
##
- Drums have changed our live- and composing work. After Reflections played concerts got Mikko ( Sirén, Apocalyptica's drummer) in to our gang and that opened many new possibilities. Drums enables to write different kind of riffs.
##
- yes Mikko is a member of Apocalyptica. He was already working long time like a member so it felt stupid not to take him in more officially.
##
7a. Do you think the dynamic of the band has changed now that you have a drummer and has it changed the way you write your music?
- yes it has changed as Mikko is very innovative person and experienced on playing so many different styles. Also when Mikko is working drum parts it ofcourse brings more open view what to do rythmically in songs. He has also coool ideas for cellos as well...
##
Mikko had bad problems with his arms(which is not very surprising because he
is like a monkey that hits the snare drum louder than any other!!!) but
still, not nice.not at all.otherwise mikko is a very nice guy
##
Stay doing your doublebass and your black metal and don't do that glam rock stuff!
##
When it comes to Lombardo's drum parts I think there is no reason for anyone to try to copy his style. Even if you tried to sound like him you would still sound like a cheap copy.
##
I've taken influences by thousends of drummers, just like anyone else, but I still try to sound more like myself than like Dave Lombardo or anyone else.
##
I remember when Mikko tried to go and take his drums in pieces after the show. Green Day and the other bands were a bit confused...
